What is ThermaPureHeat?
ThermaPureHeat is new treatment that kills termites, among other things, but is perfectly safe for humans to breathe. This is the basic concept behind the new ThermaPure Heat. Hot air is used in place of poisonous gas. There are several major advantages and a great deal of convenience by removing the toxic element.
Drywood termites are killed by as little as 120ºF when held for one half-hour. This temperature must be obtained in the core of the wood where termites live. To accomplish this, air temperatures are raised to between 140ºF and 160ºF and held for up to 6 to 8 hours. Temperatures can exceed these ranges based on structure, contents, and safety. This is similar to the temperatures inside a sauna or a car on a hot summer day.
To determine when lethal temperatures have been obtained, small thermocouple wires (temperature probes) are inserted into the infested wood. These wires lead to digital thermometers, which display the temperature from inside the wood member. This gives us the unique ability to determine when a killing temperature has been obtained. No other technology provides this type of confirmation on every job, showing that the treatment has been successful. This process also kills the insect eggs.
