A weed is any plant which is growing where its not wanted. |
• Pre–Emergent Control: The best way to chemically control weeds is to act before you see the weed (pre-emergence.) In other words, kill the seed before or as it sprouts, with no harm done to your existing plants or grass. We apply once in the early fall and twice in the spring (early and late) to control grass and broadleaf weeds in established turf grasses, lawns and sod areas, landscape ornamentals, and established perennial and wildflower plantings. Typically there will be 60% to 70% control after the first application in the fall, and 95% control after the second and third applications in the spring. |
• Post-Emergent/Non-Selective Control: This method uses a product that will kill every plant it comes in contact with—so it can only be used in areas where everything needs to be eliminated. Care must be taken to avoid the spray reaching any plants that are desirable. It can also be useful to spot treat limited areas. |
• Post-Emergent/Broadleaf Weed Control: A specialized formulation is used that is absorbed only by weeds that have fairly broad leaves, such as dandelions, so surrounding plantings (such as lawn grass) will not be damaged. This treatment should be applied after watering, so that it is not washed off the leaves of weeds that need to be killed, and it works best during the seasons when weeds are actively growing—early fall and late spring. |
