Hibiscus are taken care of almost the same as are roses, except they have a much deeper root structure, and proper fertilizing and systemic pest control must take this into account. Hibiscus also start growing a little later with warmer soil temperatures, so fertilizer and Merit are added later in the Spring than with roses.

We offer deep-root fertilizing and/or drenching applications for your hibiscus bushes during the later spring and summer. In addition, the one time per year Merit systemic drench, also done during the Spring, can be added at a reasonable price while we are on your property fertilizing your plants. This systemic treatment will keep your insect problems, such as whiteflies and aphids, under control for the season.

Corky’s charges by the size of the bush, as it really makes a difference in how deep the treatment must reach—the larger the bush, the more fertilizer and Merit it takes to effectively reach the root structure. The hibiscus plants take a deep soaking due to the deeper root structure. While they are being fertilized, the Merit systemic is being drawn up into the leaves to keep insects away.
